A sleepy island area in the 1970s, has been transformedinto a mega tourist destination. Located on the Caribbean sideof Mexico, this resort area has something for everyone.

Make no mistake, is a very tourist friendly destination.Located on the Yucatan peninsula, is populated with megaresorts and over 20,000 hotel rooms. The economy is based ontourism and the people go out of their way to show tourists agood time.

Cancun proper is actually two distinct areas. City islocated on the mainland and Island is just off the coast.The island is the stuff of legend.

What To Eat
The basic Mexican diet is essentially one of corn (ma? and its products, supplemented by beans and chiles. These three things appear in an almost infinite variety of guises. Some dishes are hot (ask ¿es picante?), but on the whole you add your own seasoning from the bowls of home-made chile sauce on the table - these are often surprisingly mild, but they can be fiery and should always be approached with caution. There are at least a hundred different types of chile, fresh or dried, in colours ranging from pale green to almost black, and all sorts of different...

As with any mega resort area, getting to is very easy.Most major airlines fly into City and the airport is verymodern. You are required to have a passport and must fill out atourist card at customs. The customs agents are easy going andI’ve never heard of anyone having any problems with them.

If you want to experience a beach vacation in Mexico, you can doworse than Cancun. You will not get much feel for the localculture, but you will definitely enjoy yourself.
